This Privacy Policy explains how the "AI Reply Assistant — Messages, Reviews, Emails" Chrome extension ("the Extension") handles your data. By installing and using the Extension, you agree to the practices described here.

1. What the Extension Does

The Extension helps you write replies to customer messages, reviews, and emails. You paste or select the text you want to reply to, and the Extension suggests three reply options. By default, replies are generated by a built-in engine that runs entirely inside your browser. Optionally, you can connect your own API key from an AI provider to generate the wording with an AI model.

2. Data the Extension Handles

• Message, review or email text: text you paste into the Extension, or text you select on a web page. When you open the floating assistant from a text field, the Extension may also pre-fill the box with text that is visible near that field (up to 4,000 characters). This text may contain personal communications. The Extension reads page text only when you open the assistant; it does not monitor or collect your browsing in the background.
• Your settings and business details: reply length, format, language, shop name, policy notes, an optional imported policy text file, and your email signature.
• Licence key: the Gumroad licence key you receive when you buy a subscription.
• AI provider API key (optional): only if you choose to use an AI provider and enter your own key.
• Feedback counters: simple thumbs-up/thumbs-down counts for reply styles, kept only on your device.

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used only to generate the replies you request, to keep your settings, and to confirm that your subscription is active. We do not use it for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the Extension's single purpose of helping you write replies.

4. Offline by Default — What Leaves Your Browser

In its default mode, the Extension does not send your message text anywhere. The developer does not operate any server that receives your messages, replies, settings, or keys. Data leaves your browser only in these two cases:

• Licence verification with Gumroad (Section 5).
• Optional AI provider, only if you turn it on (Section 6).

5. Purchases and Licence Verification (Gumroad)

The Extension is sold as a subscription through Gumroad. Gumroad processes your payment and sends your licence key to you at the time of order and by email. We do not receive or store your payment card details. When you activate the Extension, and then about once every 24 hours, your licence key and our Gumroad product ID are sent to Gumroad's licensing service (api.gumroad.com) to confirm that your subscription is valid. Gumroad's own privacy policy applies to information you give Gumroad.

6. Optional AI Provider (Bring Your Own Key)

In the Advanced settings you may choose one of these providers and enter your own API key: OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), or Google (Gemini). If you do:

• The Extension asks your browser for permission to connect to that provider's website.
• When you click Generate, your browser sends the message text you entered, together with your reply preferences, shop name, and policy notes, directly to the provider you selected, using your own API key. The data does not pass through any server of ours.
• The provider processes it to return the reply and handles it under its own terms and privacy policy. You are responsible for your relationship with that provider and for the usage costs of your key.

If you leave the provider set to "Offline", none of this happens.

7. Storage and Retention

• Your settings, business details, licence key, API key, and feedback counters are stored locally on your device using Chrome's extension storage. Your API key is masked in the interface and is never shown to us.
• We do not keep your messages, reviews, emails, or generated replies on any server of ours.
• You can delete all stored data by removing the licence or key in the Extension, clearing the Extension's data, or uninstalling it.

8. Why the Extension Needs Its Permissions

• Storage: to save your settings and licence on your device.
• Active tab and page access (content script): to show the optional floating assistant button, read the text you selected or the text near the field you clicked, and insert your chosen reply into that field when you press Insert. You can turn the floating button off for any site.
• api.gumroad.com: to verify your licence key.
• OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google Gemini API addresses (optional): requested only if you select that provider.

9. No Sale of Data and Limited Use

We do not sell or transfer user data to third parties outside the approved use cases described above. We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the Extension's single purpose, we do not use it to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes, and we do not allow humans to read user data, because we do not receive it.

The use of information received from Chrome and Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

10. Security

All connections to Gumroad and to AI providers use encrypted HTTPS. Data stored locally is protected by your browser profile's own security. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable steps to limit what is handled.

11. Your Choices and Rights

• You decide what text is used; nothing is sent to an AI provider unless you select one and click Generate.
• You can switch back to Offline mode or remove your API key at any time.
• You can stop all processing by uninstalling the Extension.

12. Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above will change when we do.
